MACS for MOMs is a program funded by the Maryland Department of Health, designed to support maternal healthcare providers through collaborative medical education. The initiative offers web-based TeleECHOTM clinics, featuring didactic presentations and case-based learning specifically tailored for maternal healthcare professionals. The target audience includes OB/GYNs, certified nurse midwives, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, clinical directors, counselors, and other maternal healthcare staff.<br /><br />The program offers several benefits:<br />- Monthly case-based learning sessions.<br />- Expert consultations and peer advice on managing challenging cases.<br />- Emphasis on patient-centered care, harm reduction, and best practices.<br />- Free Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.<br /><br />Project ECHO has received joint accreditation to provide continuing education for the healthcare team from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This live activity offers up to 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for physicians. Pharmacists can earn up to 1.0 contact hour, and nurses receive a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hour. Additionally, the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) authorizes 1.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credit for physician assistants.<br /><br />The 2024 Fall Maternal Health Curriculum includes the following sessions:<br />- Opioid Use and Pregnancy on Sept 10th, presented by K. Mark<br />- Street Drugs and Pregnancy on Oct 8th, presented by C. Welsh<br />- SUD and Child Development on Nov 12th, presented by K. Connors<br />- Alcohol Use and Pregnancy on Dec 10th, presented by C.
